According to published reports, Sony raised the price of its Sony PlayStation consoles in February 1, 2025 in the wake of new federal tariffs. Those tariffs were later challenged, entitling Sony to a refund from the U.S. government. Meanwhile, Sony has indicated it does not intend to pass any portion of that refund back to the consumers who paid the higher, tariff-inflated prices charged, which could result in a windfall for Sony at consumers’ expense. Zimmerman Reed’s investigation seeks to ensure that consumers are made whole.
