Paragard Problems
Women across the country who were implanted with ParaGard IUD’s have filed individual lawsuits alleging that the ParaGard IUDs are defective and can break when the device is removed. Women who experience breakage of the IUD may suffer from any of the following complications:
- Piece of the IUD becomes embedded in the uterus
- Invasive surgeries to remove the broken IUD
- Hysteroscopy and Hysterectomy procedures

On November 17, 2021, the Hon. Leigh Martin May entered an order denying Defendants’ motion to dismiss the lawsuits filed in the Paragard MDL. The lawsuits, brought by hundreds of women, seek to hold Defendants responsible for the injuries caused by broken Paragard IUDs.
